Statement explaining increase in Bean Parish Council precept for 2025-2026

Published: 17 December 2024

We are writing to inform you of a significant decision made by the Parish Council regarding our community’s amenities.

Bean Parish Council has responsibility for the maintenance and security of the recreation ground and Beacon Wood Country Park. Both facilities that are well used and appreciated by many of the residents of the village.

In addition, the council maintains the Village Hall and the allotments.

The council needs to have a budget that secures these facilities for the future and allows for general upkeep and improvement so the Parish Council has approved an increase in the precept for the upcoming financial year 2025-26.

The newly set precept amount for 2025-26 is £35,611.00. This represents an increase of £7,841 compared to the previous year. DBC have set the Council Tax Base for Bean at 543.88 which means that for properties within Council Tax Band D, this will result in an increase in annual contribution from £50.87 to £65.48, which averages out to just £1.26 per week

It’s important to note that the purpose of this increase is to allocate funds towards much-needed playground improvements and ensure the ongoing security of our village amenities. These enhancements will not only provide safer and more enjoyable play areas for our children but will also contribute to the overall well-being of our community.

Your support and understanding in this matter are greatly appreciated as we work together to create a better environment for all residents.
